I really observe the characteristics of the 3rd dimension because I’m fascinated by it. It feels like I’m studying this planet and the psyche of humans. The land of duality, we have positive and negative. You know the old saying “bad news travels fast” that sure is true isn’t it? Negativity seems to gain more traction here. People tend to gravitate towards negative emotions, unhealthy habits, gossipy headlines and conversations overall are more enthusiastic when there’s something bad to talk about. If you want to kill a conversation just express some good news, watch the dialogue fizzle out within seconds. Got some bad news or want to talk trash about someone? Well now you’re going to be on the phone for a good hour sipping tea fully engaged in an exciting chitchat.

There’s millions of more money to be made with this draw to negativity. In Sonoma County the wine and brewery industry is at the top of the list. Every year the most popular brewery here releases its limited edition IPA that is famous around the world. With its Spring release people camp out in front of the store at least 24 hours ahead of time with chairs and tents on concrete through the night waiting to get their hands on this special beer. The line for this beer goes for blocks and they always make a good segment out of it on Bay Area news stations doing the typical street interviews. All for what? Camping out on the street for a drink that kills you? Listen, nobody and I mean nobody is going sit in line in the cold of the night to camp out for a green smoothie. Unhealthy habits are just more profitable.

The music industry knows exactly what they are doing to generate record sales. There’s major record labels and there’s independent record labels. I’m more in tune with hip hop so I can see directly what this game is. Gangster rap, which talks about drugs, guns, jail and degrading women is great for the major records. They are in the business of making money so they know what people will buy. You might not know it, but there is uplifting rap music out there. Some might call it “conscious rap” and that sub genre of hip hop gets shoveled down to the smaller independent record labels because making songs of positive subject matter doesn’t appeal to the bigger audience.

A couple years ago of friend of mine posted a bit of a spicy hot take that criticized someone in the wellness field. This was out of character of her. All of her previous Facebook posts were positive-mannered which drew in a few likes. The moment she posted a topic of controversy there was 20-30 comments and engagement was at an all time high. People were so drawn to it, there’s the gravitational pull that humans go to like a bears to honey. I told her to delete the post. “That’s not you” was my reasoning. Getting a social media dopamine fix through negative actions just doesn’t sit right, you’ll feel it when the high of the dopamine wears off.

So unfortunately anything negative in this world gains more steam. Bad news does travel fast and the good news well, you might have to go searching for it. The healthier products, the clean way of eating, the uplifting music all are not going to be in the mainstream flow of our lifestyle. This is the 3rd dimension.
